The Paul Silverstein Burn Center at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center is one of only two adult burn care centers in Oklahoma. Since its opening in 1975, the burn center has expanded to become one of the largest burn centers in the United States, serving a six-state area. Its mission is not only to save lives, but to reach “beyond survival,” improving the patient’s quality of life by returning him or her to a maximum level of function and activity in society.
Burn patients consistently worry about infection, so anything preventing or minimizing this concern is the highest priority to our burn team. Our progressive therapy and burn care has a profound impact on a patient's outcome, and lighten the load carried during a burn survivors' journey of healing.
A new shower trolley will allow staff to immediately rinse away dead skin and any bacteria on burn patients in a cleaner, more comfortable environment that also allows for dressing wounds in the same setting without moving the patient. Impact: 200 burn patients annually
(2013) YOU&I dollars have been used to help renovate the Burn ICU waiting area creating a warm and peaceful environment for families who require a more private area in close proximity to their loved ones in critical care. Impact: Up to 60 burn patient families annually
