Every 40 seconds someone in the U.S. suffers a stroke. If treated quickly enough, the effects can be decreased by as much as 30 percent. Unfortunately, not all hospitals have the necessary personnel, equipment and organization required to rapidly and effectively treat these patients. INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center is an exception. Southwest has a Stroke Center that includes one of the largest stroke units in Oklahoma, offering an innovative and comprehensive process for treating survivors of stroke, including educational opportunities designed to raise awareness about the risk factors of stroke, how to minimize them, and how to respond should the signs of a stroke present themselves to you or a loved one.
